Time to get your teams ready for Collie’s Adventure Race

Collie’s picturesque Minninup Pool will be a very busy setting on 14 and 15 October where all the action will be taking place for the 2017 Rotary Club Adventure Race.

A new sponsorship arrangement with South32 has allowed the race to develop into an improved event for the 2017 weekend of racing.

Nominations for teams and individuals are open, with the organising committee encouraging you to submit your entry before 1 September to be entered in the draw for race sponsor Cathie Rice Travel’s $300 travel voucher.

The event schedule now includes three race courses and includes the Shire of Collie Long Course event on Saturday 14 October, with the new additions of the Premier Coal Junior Adventure Race for children aged 12 and under and the Bendigo Bank Short Course both being held on Sunday 15 October.

For the fitness enthusiasts the team challenge, and individual iron men and women, multi-discipline long course includes the 10km canoe, 20km mountain bike, 1km swim, 28km road bike and 10km run legs. If you enter in the long course event prior to 1 September you will also receive a free t-shirt!

Sunday 15 October is focussed on family participation and people who want to test their fitness against the short course, with a 3km run, 5km mountain bike and optional 3km canoe components.

Bring the whole family out and encourage the children to complete the 600m run, 3km flat gravel bike course and a further 600m run to round out the junior adventure race. The junior adventure race can be completed as a team or individual junior iron kids.

“As one of the flagship community events supported by the Collie Rotary Club, we are once again pleased to host the Collie Adventure Race. It has been an exciting journey watching the race flourish, from its inception 17 years ago rising to where it is today. The inclusion of short course and youth events will provide an even greater opportunity for members of the Collie community to take part in this iconic event,” said Geoff Blackford, Collie Rotary Club Adventure Race Director.

Continuing with the improved 2016 course layout centred entirely around Minninup Pool the 2017 race promises to be a great day for all.

Mark the date in your calendar with plenty of action happening over both days for the whole family.

What are you waiting for? Get your team together and submit your entry online at before 1 September for your chance to win.
