The best of the best in the cycling world will battle for the top gong in one of Australia’s longest-running road cycling classics, the 93rd Collie to Donnybrook and Return Cycling Classic, this weekend 18-19 August.
The 65-mile (104km) handicap classic is a test of speed and stamina for the best cyclists in Western Australia.
It’s a full weekend of cycling mania, kicking off with the 16km Participation Ride leaving at 9.45am, the under 15s 40km Handicap Road Race setting off at 10.30am, under 17s 56km Handicap Road Race at 11.30 am.
Make sure you’re there by 12.30pm for the start of the main 104km Collie Community Bank Collie to Donnybrook and Return Cycling Classic, ready to cheer on your favourites.
Regular race updates and news of the thrills and spills are provided by the event commentators throughout the event before they return to Throssell Street for the sprint to the finish.
The fun doesn’t stop once the main race is over, with presentations at the Collie Italian Club. Hear from Collie’s own winter para-olympian Shaun Pianta over a bowl of fresh-cooked pasta for $25 per head. Tables of 10 or individual tickets available.
A new addition to this year’s event of the Bendigo Bank Criterium on Sunday along with Collie’s first plastic-free markets in Central Park.
