Collie gears up for motorcycle festival

Come and see for yourself Collie’s passion for all things motorsports during the Collie Motorcycle Festival, being held 23-24 September 2017.

The Shire of Collie and local motoring enthusiasts decided to give Ulysses Club members a warm country-style welcome when it was discovered they were planning to hold their annual Odyssey in the South West town of Collie.

Hundreds of motorcyclists will begin to arrive in Collie on the Friday afternoon, setting up camp and enjoying the hospitality and live entertainment on at three local pubs on Saturday night.

Sunday’s program includes a 32-kilometre motorcycle procession through the town of Collie and surrounds, finishing up in Forrest Street for a motorcycle display.

A motoring-focused Sunday Market from 8am-3pm will include free motorcycle training, motorcycle displays by major manufacturers, Men’s Shed and railway displays, remote controlled car displays, live music, food and children’s entertainment.

Rider Ride –presented by Dave Wright of the Motorcycle Riders Association of WA focuses on rider safety, while Rider Down teaches correct life-saving first aid immediately following an accident.

The training sessions on Sunday at the Collie PCYC are being provided free of charge to the public.

The Historic Competition Motorcycle Club is holding its State Championships and a track/running day at the Collie Motorplex, just outside of Collie, on the Saturday, Sunday and Monday, starting at 9am each day.

Gold coin donations, raffles, and a stall selling donated motorcycle gear throughout the Collie Motorcycle Festival will raise much-needed funds for the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Donations of your unwanted motorcycle gear are greatly appreciated.

A limited-edition mounted poster of World Superbike Champion Jonathan Rhea donated by Kawasaki Australia, and a pair of Alpine Feel TKR3 Sentir headphones are up for grabs in raffles to be held on the Sunday morning.
