Take a winding road to Collie and make the most of the events planned as part of the Collie Motorcycle Festival being held 23-24 September 2017, including historic motorcycle racing, rider safety training, country-style hospitality and motorcycle-themed markets and displays.
Sunday’s program begins with motorcycles gathering at the Collie Visitor Centre at 9am to embark on a 32-kilometre procession throughout the town and district, ending up in Forrest Street for a public display of several hundred motorcycles of all makes and types.
The Collie Motorcycle Festival will feature displays of the latest motorcycles from Bunbury KTM & Suzuki and the Honda Shop Midland. Motorcycle accessories and equipment will be available for purchase.
All manner of interesting things will be on offer from both the Sunday Goods Shed Markets, and local and other traders staying open until 2pm with market stalls, food and drinks.
Bushfire Brigade and SES emergency vehicles and radio-controlled racing will also be on display.
The sale of donated new and used motorcycle gear and a sausage sizzle will help raise much-needed funds for the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Five Star Yamaha and Cully’s Motorcycles have generously donated several thousand dollars worth of motorcycle gear, including new helmets, gloves, tank decals and new jackets. WA motorcyclists have also donated riding gear including a number of sets of used racing leathers in good condition, as well as body armour, Harley Davidson manuals and books – all to be sold at bargain prices.
A limited edition block mounted Kawasaki poster featuring Jonathon Rhea a World Superbike Champion, will be available for purchase via a silent auction.
Free rider safety training sessions are being offered at the Collie PCYC on Sunday. Ride Right, providing rider safety tips and Rider Down: Fast Aid for the Motorcyclist demonstrates what to do to save a life in the vital minutes following an accident.
Buskers and a Brass Band will entertain the crowds from the Bendigo Bank Music Shell during the morning, with the combined Collie & Bunbury Schools Brass Band followed by buskers from Collie and the surrounding region.
The Historic Competition Motorcycle Club is holding a test and tune day on Saturday, 23 September, in readiness for the State Championships on Sunday and Monday at the Collie Motorplex.
The Federal, Crown and Victoria Hotels in Collie are providing entertainment for riders on the Saturday evening, with a gold coin donation entry to the Royal Flying Doctors Service. Raffles will be run at each hotel during the evening featuring quality items as prizes. A shuttle bus will run from major accommodation venues from 5-7pm and return trips from 10 – 12 midnight at a fare of $3 each way, so enjoy the night and do not risk your license
