More than 10 local businesses are taking their wares to the street to raise awareness for the importance of small business in our local economy as part of Small Business Day, this Saturday, 27 October 2018.
The Collie Community Bank branch of the Bendigo Bank has sponsored this year’s event by printing posters and stickers to raise awareness.
Collie Chamber of Commerce Executive Officer Rebecca Woods said the event was aimed at raising awareness for the importance of the small business sector.
“Each store will have a table or rack with goods on display out the front of their store,” said Mrs Woods. “We are trying to attract the eye to our small businesses to get people talking and having a conversation asking what is going on.”
Participating local businesses including Flowers on Forrest, Sportf1rst, Cheeky Squirrel, Collie Shoeland, Toscas Boutique, Retro Respection, 8 Thai Ladies, Australian Red Cross, Collie Furniture and Bedding, Bendigo Bank and Taree.
The Chamber of Commerce has also held a lunch to demystify banking and accounting packages as part of its efforts to support small business, as well as regular Business After Hours events held regularly in members’ premises around the town.
According to Regional Chambers WA, almost half of all jobs created in WA are created by the small business sector.
