The Quindanning Picnic Race Day is set to celebrate its 40th anniversary in style in March 2018.
The festivities kick off for the early birds on Friday, 30 March, at the Quindanning Hall with live music by Darcy Mae, a hole-in-one tournament and fish and chips.
The main event is a full day of country racing, on Saturday, 31 March. It starts with a gymkhana at 8 am, with riders of all ages participating. The events include barrel racing, a donkey harness show, horse racing, dog races, and the always popular drag your bag race in the afternoon.
A new race, the Jumbo Sprint, is being introduced to honour James “Jumbo” Munday, who had been an active volunteer and advocate for the Quindanning Picnic Race Day over many years. The Jumbo Sprint will be an open race over 600 metres.
Organisers are calling for nominations for the Powder Puff, The Jumbo Sprint and the Quindanning Cup by no later than 16 March. New regulations permit a horse to compete in only one event on the day. No nominations for these races can be accepted on the day.
The evening entertainment includes live music from the Dave Mustang Band.
Wine and cheese, and other food and drinks are available for purchase all day, with the bar open from 12 noon until midnight.
