The Collie RC Club’s first weekday radio-control racing season has come to a close with the momentous presentation of the first-ever trophies.
Top prize winners included Kade Digney in the two-wheel-drive stock class, Jordan Maxwell in the two-wheel-drive modified class, Toby Stanley in the short course trucks class and Darren von Bibra in the 1/8th-scale superlites.
The inaugural President’s Cup was awarded by Jason Stanley to Jake Robinson, who also picked up a second-place trophy in the two-wheel-drive stock class.
“Jake continued to turn up, sometimes got frustrated with the game, but also celebrated when he got his first win. From crashing out to running almost perfect laps,” said President Jason Stanley. “Congratulations Jake, we hope there are many more wins ahead.”
The next weekday series starts this Thursday evening with a new time, new day and new scoring system.
Lights have been installed at the off-road 1/10th-scale track at the Collie BMX Track, so that weekday racing can start and finish later to accommodate workers. Nominations are now 6pm, with racing to start at 6.30pm.
A new scoring system is also being trialled over the 10-week season that will be fairer for shift workers and allow for rain-offs. Instead of scoring points for placing as per the previous season, racers’ best race lap/time for the evening will be collated and the cumulative five best times will decide trophy winners.
