The Replica Mine was constructed in 1983 by the Collie Rotary Club to commemorate the centenary of the discovery of coal and has recently undergone an upgrade to make the experience even more interesting.

Self Guided Tours

Join a self guided tour to explore this underground world.  Explore the history of coal mining in Collie, learn about different jobs the men did whilst working underground, the camaraderie of the teams, working with horses and the equipment used.  Experience the blast as the coal is removed from the face and don’t forget to look around for the critters that could often be found in these dark and damp working conditions.

Tours are held daily:

  • Monday to Friday: 9am to 4pm. Last entry is at 3.00pm.
  • Saturday: 10am to 3pm. Last entry is at 2.00pm.
  • Sunday: 10am to 2pm. Last entry is at 1.00pm.

Self Guided Tour Costs:

  • Adults $15
  • Children (5 – 16 years) $5
  • Children under 5 – Free
  • Seniors $12
  • Family Pass (2 adults and up to 3 children)  $30

Guided Tours 

Are available with one of our retired mine guides.  Bookings are a minimum group of 4 and must be made at least 2 weeks in advance.

Guided Tour Costs:

  • Adults $20
  • Children (5 – 16 years) $10
  • Children Under 5 – Free
  • Seniors $17
  • Family (2 adults and up to 3 children) $55

Please note our guides are volunteers so Guided Tours are dependent on their availability.  Please phone the Visitor Centre on 9734 2051 on weekdays to book a Guided Tour.

School and Large Group Bookings

School and Large Group Bookings can be made directly with the Visitor Centre and must be made in advance.  As Tours are limited to 15 people per tour, we recommend combining your tour with a visit to the Coalfields Museum or Anglican Church.  The Visitor Centre can also help with these bookings.

 

Other Information 

Bookings can be made online or through the Visitor Centre on 08 9734 2051.

We recommend suitable footwear as there are rail tracks and uneven surfaces throughout the mine and to allow 40 mins to an hour for the tour.  Tours are limited to 15 people per time slot so we do advise booking ahead of time to secure your spot.

Children must be accompanied by an adult. The experience contains loud noises.
