Today’s Collie

Today Collie is a modern thriving community of approximately 9500 residents. It’s large enough to offer all the services expected of a regional centre, but small enough to retain its country charm and hospitality - It is a warm and friendly community surrounded by forests, rivers and lakes.

Collie offers excellent shopping facilities, with two supermarkets (Coles and Woolworths), Target Country, gift shops and lots of specialty stores. Two medical practices and dental surgeries, allied health services including physiotherapist, chiropractors, podiatrist and Silver chain all support the modern Collie District Hospital.

Sports enthusiasts are spoilt for choice, with many sporting clubs and associations based in Collie, including two golf courses with grass greens and a lawn tennis club. Roche Park Recreation Centre and the Police and Citizens Youth Centre provide indoor sports and social activities.

Collie’s relaxed lifestyle makes it a great place to raise a family. Four primary schools, including a private Catholic school, and a senior high school ensure a high standard of education. An infant health centre, family centre and child care centre ensure families have access to essential services.

The Collie Senior Citizens Centre is a hive of activity. An adult day centre also offers a wide variety of pursuits to interest the elderly, whilst Riverview Residence and Valley View Aged Care Facility provide excellent aged care accommodation and support.

Wellington Heights, Buckingham Way and the Drive In Estate are new housing developments in Collie, with modern architecturally designed homes and attractive gardens.

Collie is the beating heart of the south west, providing much of the all important power production for a large part of southern Western Australia, drinking water for many communities and forests, lakes and dams for recreation and relaxation.
